Hi - I have an ESS who is nearly four years old. I feed him or rather I was feeding him on free flow mince, vegetables, a few carbs every now and then, chicken wings and turkey necks. Everything was going OK up until a couple of weeks ago. He started to turn his nose up at the veggies so I cut them back a little now he isn't interested in anything. This morning I flash fried liver for him - he doesn't like it raw. This would normally be hovered up, he took a couple of mouthfuls and turned away. I had put it down to the weather but because he suffers from SA and this was due to him being hungary (unfortunately to took me awhile to see the light regarding raw feeding) I am worried the problem will start again if I leave him without him having had a good meal.
We went for a lovely walk yesterday came home he should have been tired, ready for a feed and sleep but instead he turned his nose up at breakfast and when I left him to pop to the shops on my return he was howling and barking!
Any advice or ideas will be gratefully received.
Hi,
Sorry I can't really help, mine are so far loving being raw fed, veggies aren't their fav unless there liquidised with liver. I'm sure more experienced raw feeders will be abe to help.
Question was the barking and howling out of character?
Sue
Unfortunately not - he is not keen on being on his own. Although since he's changed to the raw diet he has been OK - according to the neighbours until yesterday!
When Daisy does this, it's usually time to get her anal glands emptied. Mind you she does have spectacularly bad problems with hers, but maybe your boy needs his checked?
