It depends on the dog as to how long the season lasts - Chablie usually has a season for about three and a half weeks. She is kept on the lead until the season has completely finished, e.g. when her vulva shrinks back to normal size. The bleeding lessens after about 10 days but again depends on individual dogs. This is when they are ready to be mated and need the most attention!

Is it Poppy's first season?

Daisy was really unhappy when she had hers, back in April, there's a good thred on here with good advice from Sandy about it.

However, as long as you can bear the laughter ( laugh.gif ) you can by hygiene pants for them by Mikki and you can get them at PAH. Daisy wore them and apart from one small unsupervised problem, theyw ere a God send. I bought cheap thin sanitary towls and cut them in half to put in the pants, as they were cheaper, softer and more absorbant than the pads Mikki do.

They also provide some protection from dogs, as they cover the ladybits.

Daisy was very depressed after the bleeding stopped and we had some problems with scavenging etc, but it was only for a few weeks and with ST advice it was eventually OK.

Good luck
