"One of the top agility dogs in the country has died after eating poisonous fungi. Vets had been trying to save her since last Saturday but her kidneys had been too badly damaged. Please keep an eye on what your dogs are eating at this time of year when there are so many toadstools about. Hex was a very special little Sheltie and only 3 years old. Her owners are completely devastated as she was such a character and so much loved."

Ok I was going to make a joke about kelly and her mushroom phobia but considering the circumstances I'll keep my gob shut.

how sad, its a minefield every time you walk them!

One dog I know of almost died from the same thing as just a pup last year, had to have blood transfusions and only just survived. Another 2 springer pups this year it was touch and go for them too, again poison mushrooms.

How can this not severely affect a survivor if a growing youngster, both physically and mentally?

On the front page of the North Herts local papers is a story about a dog who died from funal poisoning after apparently only rolling on a pile of wood chips.......
