I am looking for a cowbell for Kimba. He is still in the habit of running of into the hedges (as you might expect with a Springer) but we are still working on the recall!! I am sure on the Southern Meet walk at the end of October someone had a cowbell on their Springer. Sounds like a great idea - as at least you can tell which hedge they are in! But does anyone know where I can get one???

Many thanks.

A falconry bell may be as useful and you may find they are easier to come by.

I bought a silly santa hat before christmas to wear on a christmas eve shoot and it had bells on. I've taken those off and attached it to a collar to use on one of mine when we're walking them in the dark. Works really well.

Don't know about cowbells but it seems these are the next best thing!

I would sew the strap though in case it came off and got lost. I bought a pack of 3 cat bells from the pet shop for £1.75 and they work just as good.

oh it was me - I have a greek lamb bell on Gracie my little lurcherette smile.gif a friend of mine got me a couple from Kefalonia ! previous to that we had falconry bells though, from Ebay.... about £6 for two I think....
Those bear bells, although they look nice - aren't that noisy. Well, they aren't noisy enough for my liking anyway !

Just taken down the christmas tree last night and found three sets of large double bells each on its own blue cord (forgot I had them) Will try them out with Barney tomorrow.

If they work well enough, will post the other two sets to whoever wants them.

sorry, have been following this post and was cheekily wondering if I could bagsy a set if they're nice and noisy ph34r.gif .

I will pay you for them of course, I spent most of yesterday looking around the shops with no luck and was having second thoughts about the bear bell. I don't think the people round here can take much more of me and Bo running up behind them without warning (I do try and shout but if it's near the end of the run it's not always possible)

No probs Wendy

Am off to the forest now to try them out myself. Will let you know how I got on. The only thing is with them being nice shiny bells, I have a feeling they will go a bit rusty after a while. Hubby says if they work he will coat them with varnish or hamerite.

If you pm me your address I will send you a set - no charge.

that's great thanks - if you won't accept any money how about a donation to a charity of your choice?

I've been away sorting out some family stuff and just got back to my bells! fantastic they should do the trick - I'll make sure they are kept out of mouths reach wink.gif

If you let me know any charity you support I'll make sure I send the donation next week.

thanks again
