Swamp Cooler

Thes coats are fab. Yes they are on the pricey side, but they certainly do there job in cooling and keeping your dog cool. Like a toweling coat they can be soaked in water then put onto your dog. In addition they absorb your dogs heat, and through evaporation, keep your dog cooler, they are reflect sunlight, heat and UV rays.

All in all a fab idea, brilliant for those days when it's a wee bit stiffling (even if you go out first thing in the morning/last thing at night). I imagine dogs doing agility/flyball or any dog 'competing' during summer months - these would be a godsend.

Size wise, mine all have size small, but we are going to try a medium for more coverage wink.gif

For anyone interested, I can get hold of these for £30 plus p&p wink.gif

Ollie had his on all day at the Cold wet Nose Show and he wasn't bothered by the heat at all, I'm really impressed, he's gott a small but it doesn't quite come down to his bum, the sizing for his overall body width was excellent though.

A donation to SWSW will be made for any of these ordered wink.gif

Derr, should have borrowed Ollies to see if it would fit tubby guts. Length would be fine but a small may be a bit snug.

Once he wakes up I will measure him.

Oooo would you Kelly - that would be great as tubby Brits are an odd shape for coats laugh.gif .

PS - Why do you have to have a boy puppy - 9.30 to be in the ring seems very early as we are second breed in after GSP's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mind you if Chase is still wired after being at the show that long I will despair of ever taming the beast.

Kelly, do you think they are more effective than wetting the dog completely? And how long does it take until you have to moisten them again?

Rhian is not much bothered by the heat, but maybe for a long summer hike this would be a good idea. rolleyes.gif

Susanna, Baby B's coat was soaked an hour ago and is still very wet. TBH I've not timed how long they stay wet for . . . . Selina would have a better idea as Ollie had his on for a lot of the day at the CWN show.

I definitely think they are better then wetting the dog completely - the coat absorbs the dogs heat - which keeps the coat cool - a bit like wicking clothes that walkers wear - the Lowe Alpine type stuff. The fact that it also reflects heat and sunlight is an added bonus biggrin.gif

I kept checking that Ollie's was damp throughout the day and even when it was almost dry it wasn't hot on him, it was definitely doing it's job.

I was so pleased with it I've ordered another two (which arrived today) for the other boy's. smile.gif

I am just waiting for two to arrive - can't believe the price I was given including shipping from the US, very impressed and can't wait for them to arrive as Mugi and Chase will both be much happier. Freddy is a sun worshipper and lurves hot days but if needed he will get a turn in one to freshen him up.

True to form mine arrived while I was on holiday rolleyes.gif .

Suffice to say that medium gives good all over coverage on Chase, Mugi and Freddy so for those who saw the guys at the Fling to judge I would say medium would be the size to chose for most larger ESS and male WSS - I know Rufus is quite a bit smaller than Fred as is Ollie as he is slimmer round the ribs.
