Tomorrow we are going to a Companion Dog Show - please note Kelly tongue.gif laugh.gif , even though Chase has been to Crufts I still want to use this opportunity to to get some practice much cheaper than I would at even an Open Show wink.gif .

So Chase will be in a Junior class and we expect nothing as Brittanys rarely do well under non-breed specialist judges. In the fun classes Mugi thinks he may do a veteran class and Brice may well perform but I haven't decided if he is going in the Pedigree section or a fun class. Fred is going in nothing cos he is in a mess at the mo and rather than mess with Mr Grumpy I will let him stay mucky and furry laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif .

Enjoy smile.gif

I love CD shows. I used to travel miles to them when I first started. Yep, the classes tend to be huge and places are v hard to come by, but they are FUN. It is great being able to enter on the day, and who wouldn't want the judge to say they had the most handsome dog or prettiest bitch???? You get to meet some great people and have wonderful doggie chats. Still, you do get some interesting judges, who have no idea of what they are looking at. The worst I ever had was when the judge called for my "cocker" dry.gif dry.gif , trouble was there was a v nice cocker that got slung sad.gif.

I tend to focus on the ones that have obedience too - two bites of the cherry at one time. And oh, what a feeling when a welshie places in obedience biggrin.gif

Tis in walking distance of my house Kelly (well about a mile away so I will drive up considering the fact I will need a mobile kennel on hand).

Seriously though, I would recommend you look out for a few local to you as they will give you and B good practice, I also have a few Open Show schedules for you - see I can be as pushy as anyone else to get a nice puppy out there tongue.gif .

We'll watch for shows local to you Kellie smile.gif. You could even have a go at showing him yourself - you did it at Leeds biggrin.gif. Why not start with the fun classes where you don't need to stand the dog, sitting (you and him) is often best for most handsome dog smile.gif ?

As if the Wag & Bone wasn't enough rolleyes.gif Baby B won his class then came 2nd in the semi's - and he didn't come first due to politics - I was a judge on the day and couldn't be put through to the Grand final - see mummy holding him back again rolleyes.gif tongue.gif

Well, the wind was blowing and the rain periodically was lashing down.

Chase had to go in an AV Terrier, Hound, Gundog class as they dropped the Junior Class - we were under a terrier judge. I had one very hyper young man who was not settled esp when the wind was up his bum. Needless to say we weren't placed, not surprising when the judge wanted him stood extended which Brittany's don't do. Hey, it was good experience and he was better being gone over than sometimes.

I decided to enter Mugi in AV Veteran and he came 5th out of 17 dogs so that was great.

But my big lad was a star, he decided a year or so back he didn't like showing - since he has also been bitten a couple of times having him in a large class may have gone wrong. I entered him in AV Open and he only went and came 2nd biggrin.gif biggrin.gif - the judge really commented on his movement which he did great even in a small ring.

So we had a good day, did nothing in the novelty classes but I wasn't really expecting to as I know that crossbreeds often get given the nod over pedigrees which in my mind is right anyway.

Well done Sue. We did the RSPCA Show in Nailsworth today, entered them all in various classes, except Mr. Bones who is too young although it was a great socialzing event for him!!! Suki got a 4th in Scruffiest mutt which was lovely as she has had such health issues this year.
