We took part today at an open obedience show, where I entered her into the pre-beginner class

. I was very pleased with her one minute sit/stay

, two minute down/stay

, her recall and finish were fine

, but the heel work was poor

. It was quite funny though as she kept turning her head wondering at the judge walking behind us in the ring

. I was nervous that she would just run off to see the other dogs walking passed the ring during the off lead heel work, but she didn't and so I forgive her her 'nose on the ground not paying attention except to the judge behind us' heel
The first 10 dogs were placed...ahem...we didn't get a mention

. You feel kind of out of place at an obedience show as there are >90% Collies

.
Last week at the WSS gun dog training day she was good though and in the afternoon -*test*-('") she came third in the novice (out of four), competing with dogs whose owners take them to working -*test*-('")s and field trials.
