Chico unfortunately is still looking for a home, we all thought he had the perfect home, well, he did unfortunately his love and excitement for toys has let him down and he accidentally bit a child and so he can't stay where he is.

Not the owner's fault and not Chico's fault just one of those things, in the house he is calm and lovable but he is very ball obsessed which in this case has let him down.

Chico is neutered, is approx 8 years old and is very loving, good with other dogs and cats but obviously can't be rehomed with young children, currently in the Somerset area but will soon be moved to Cornwall to his foster home.

I fell in love with this guy when he was posted before. I also have a ball obsesser so I know the problems it can cause. Balls are put away when kiddies visit and my Jessie will fight for her ball if another dog takes it despite her age, so it only goes out with us when I can go to quiet places and when my other two big dogs also have a ball each. hope you find a home for Chico soon. Wish I had room. Mags wub.gif

Mags the problem with Chico is he would give his ball to anyone and often does but in his case when small children pick it up and doesn't throw it quick enough then he tries to get it back laugh.gif .
He would submit to any dog or person, he's a real charmer he just loves playing so much he expect's everyone to play with him and do it quickly laugh.gif

After his first place ment didn't work out I spoke with theowner who is absolutely devastated at having to give Chico up, the whole family fell in love with him completely and when he is out on a quiet walk he is 100% responsive to who he is with but when he goes to a public park and there is lots of other people around he just wants to say hello to everyone and if he doesn't have a toy of his own to take to them he'll happily pinch there's which obviously isn't acceptable when there's lots of children around.

If any dog could be called TO LOVABLE AND FRIENDLY that sum's Chico up completely. smile.gif

Oh wow im sooo sorry to hear this sad.gif
Chicco has never been aggressive during his 8 years with me, and i have 3 grandkids that used to play with Chicco regularly they are 10 4 and 1 year old. but as Selina explained he does love to play and will give the ball to anyone who will play with him and if your not fast enough he will try to get it back from whoever has it.
When Chicco is out and has his own ball he doesn't look at anyone else just whoever is playing with him...but as Selina has said if he doesnt have his own ball then he will pinch someone else's and i know this is not acceptable.
He is the most lovable and friendly dog i have ever known...maybe too friendly for his own good.
But he would never bite anyone intentionally he hasn't an aggressive bone in his body.
I really do hope that Chicco finds a forever home soon as he is a wonderfull dog.
I feel rather sad to read he has bitten a child as he was always gentle around my grandkids sad.gif im sorry i had to speak up in his defence unsure.gif

Don't worry Janice, he hasn't bitten a child, just grabbed a ball they were holding.

Chicco is lovely and great danger of staying here wink.gif

No defending is needed janice, it was an accident but as his 'home' had lots of children and toys visiting he just wasn't suitable, accidents happen and that's that, Chico is not at fault just very playful, I agree he wouldn't intentionally hurt anybody, he loves everyone he meets and is generally very gentle.

When Chicco is out and has his own ball he doesn't look at anyone else just whoever is playing with him.

We have found this isn't always the case, when Chico drops a toy to be thrown and you pick it up, if he sees someone else throwing a toy as is sometimes the case in a public park, he will run after any toy that is available, any potential owner must be aware of this. smile.gif He just loves to play. biggrin.gif
