Just in from the vets.

We decided today that we were worried about rapid weight loss and wanted to take him in. He's lost 2 kg in a short space of time (haven't weighed him since the Fling, but he was def chunky in the first week of September when we got back from holidays) Ideally, the vet wants him between 22-25kg, and he's fallen to 17 from 19.6 in last weigh in August.
More worryingly, she palpitated his stomach and he was definitely tender there again.
She's emptied anal glands, this was last done two months ago, but they weren't totally over full.
We've wormed him again just in case.

Back in at 930 for full bloods and another check of stomach, if still tender, she's thinking of scanning him.

Andy's going to take him to agility tonight anyway, think he needs a bit of one to one cuddles.

I'm not panicking, yet, but we're both a bit nervous.

ST thoughts Charlie's way please

Full bloods is a good plan. He might have some issues absorbing his nutrients - perhaps something like Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency ? or it could really be as simple as food intolerance - a friend of mine had a saluki that was so so so skinny until she worked out exactly what he could and couldn't eat.
Btw if they aren't sure what they are dealing with, and since he has been poorly quite a lot, I would ask for a referral to an Internal Medicine Specialist. He is insured isn't he ?
Good luck tomorrow.

Thanks.
J, no I didn't try it in the end, maybe should've done. Ordered some of the stuff Penel recommended last night though.
Penel, thanks. Yes, he's very much insured! They did look into his pancreatic function last time, but I will mention it again in the morning. I think we need to look further into this, we left it last time as we had no idea, could've been gastro bug, anything really. But now he seems poorly again, blood in poo this morning was the final clincher, so I'm really hoping we can find some answers.
The vet said we could leave it a week and try feeding him up, but then after a longer chat felt it was better to try to get some answers.
