Classic case of working type Springer to much for his current family, full medical history, no problems, good all round condition, vaccinated and microchipped, will need castrating as part of the ESSW adoption contract.

Charlie is very bouncy and full of life, he needs to get into some serious training asap and will benefit from consistency and a routine in life, he will mouth but does not bite, he lives up to his breed and will jump around lot's upon greeting people, this can easily be rectified by teaching a firm sit command and he should only get fussed and greeted when his bum's on the ground stopping all the jumping around.
He hasn't had any real training and has been let get away with things hence the training needed now, because of this we feel Charlie should only be homed with children over 12 as the mouthing could scare younger children.

Would make a good pet dog if trained properly or even a good gun dog if hh has firm consistent but positive reward based training, he has also been fd on Bakers which has not helped his current boisterous play behaviour.

Charlie will need a home that can give him a lot of mental stimulation and reward based training, this will soon swing him around into a well behaved and mannered dog.

He is currently in Weston Super Mare and may soon be going into foster care to either Devon or Dorset

Darren I have replied via PM in more detail, I will not be rehoming an entire dog with an unspayed bitch, sorry, I'm quite sure you could give him a lovely life but it is policy that all our dogs are neutered so could not be used to breed from.

ohmy.gif awww he is lovely! And your description of him was word for word how I would have described my Archie when I first got him, age, bounciness, lack of training, being fed Bakers, all of it!

To anyone thinking that little Charlie sounds like a handful, then let me throw some reassurance into the ring, with a lot of love and patience dogs like him that have had no real learning or path to follow early in life - such with the mouthing etc - then they can and will make wonderful family pets...

My Archie is now 3 and although am still working on the jumping around people and the giddiness sometimes, he is a darling of a dog... he is so eager to learn and please that training is fun and not hard work, the mouthing can be overcome, and using some relaxtion techniques meant that now I can help him relax too and not run around at 150% hyper speed all the time (now it's just 110% laugh.gif )...

If I didn't have Sonny who wouldn't tolerate another young whipper snapper, then Charlie would be on his way here laugh.gif biggrin.gif

Good Luck little fella! Selina, I hope you find the right home for him first time, my Archie had 3 homes before he was a year old just cos of his 'bounciness' mad.gif sad.gif

Charlie has got someone going to see him today or tomorrow that can give him a working home, fingers crossed for him.

Isn't it a story too often told when people fall in love with a breed without researching their behaviour first?

When I had Mickey he was trained from day 1. When he was first allowed out after his jabs he was walking to heel off the lead on the first day, and he was this obedient (apart from when the ducks were in the lake, he just loved to make friends!) What a fantastic lad he was.

Miss him... can you tell?

I just wish that people put their heads above their hearts more and then these lovely Springers wouldn't have to be re-homed at the rate that they are.

Anyway, good luck Charlie.

wink.gif Why do people do it - although our jobs show us that many don't think about having children let alone what brred of dog they buy. he looks fab and I concur whole heartedly - Stanley was about as off the wall as they come as 12 months with no rules, no training, not interactions, no socialisation. But reward based training, a job to do, learn to earn and a strong steady leadersip mean he is now a brilliant boy - still busy and can be highly strung but the fas-*test*-('") learner and a joy to love. Edgar was also described as bouncy but compared to Stanley he is as cool and calm as a cucumber so sometimes they are not as bad as owners think - they just didn't think about a puppys needs.
Good luck Charlie - hope to see you in Devon!

Agree with this totally wink.gif

I listen to some of my friends going on about their 'bouncy' and unruly dogs, then I meet the said dog in question and find a laid back, albeit normally canine inquisitive doggy... sometimes I want to loan out Archie just so they can see what a truly hyper dog is and make them more thankful for what they've got... rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif
