Barnie has severe arhritis ( no one has told him tho) and the vet is now trying him on Cartrofen injections.

Has anyone had any experience of this drug? She says that it works in some dogs but not others which is why it isn't widely used.

One of my friend's lurchers has had bad arthritis from an early age, he's had Cartrophen injections 3 times now I think, about 6 months apart, and they have really helped. He is also on Synflex every day and also green lipped mussel. The combination of all of the above have really helped but he still gets stiff after lots of silly running.

Max has the lot - cartrofen jab once a month and booster set of 3 every 6 - we inject him ourselves to save the cost of a vet visit - also all the supplements already mentioned and lots of oily fished based eats. Wears a bio flow collar as well. So can't really say wot works and wot may not but the combination of it all seem to make him think he has no joint issues - even attaching wheels does not seem to remind him. The cartrafen is not very expensive we pay about £5 each month for the liquid and needle so figure it is worth the try and there are no effects although aparently it can make some dogs vomit.
PM if you want any further info.
