I've had a breadmaker for a few years (maybe 3 or 4) - haven't used it much over the last few months but decided to dig it out and make bread again today. ***ing thing won't work - heats up but paddle not moving - think it's done for

Now I used to think these things were a waste of ££ before I got mine but it does make lovely bread. I often just use it for the dough setting and then finish off in the oven.

What I would like to know is who has one, do you use it often and most importantly can anyone recommend a good one to replace mine. What's good/bad about your's if you've got one. blink.gif

Current one is Morphy Richards but the review on those at present say they are poor.

Really tiddled off as I was looking forward to some scrummy bread and haven't bought any today in anticipation of home baked. sad.gif sad.gif

I currently have a Morphy Richards Fastbake and use it about 1/2 times a week. I always use it to do pizza dough so boys can do home-made pizza's (football training night!) and make home-made bread every Saturday morning.

It is very simple to use, the only thing I need different on it is I want a drop down paddle thingy!!

Would love home-made bread without the huge hole in the bottom!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Not sure if thet helps or not!!

I use a Panasonic since 5.5 years and it's going strong. I use it basically all the time as I (sorry folks) don't like the British bread very much...ooops ph34r.gif .
What I find good about, it has quite a lot of programms like different dough settings and bread settings. I also make pizza dough in it. I would buy a Panasonic again when that one breaks down, can't fault it. The only thing I would look out for, there are apparently breadbaking machines where you can make pasta dough in it, sounds quite handy too.

I've got a Panasonic and had it for about 5 yrs too - it's going strong but I don't use it too often as we found we were eating too much delicios bread laugh.gif

we make our own bread without a bread maker - we buy the packet mixes and leave it to rise in the airing cupboard then pop it in the oven - I couldnt be doing with the hassle of cleaning out a bread machine

I'm not into bread mixes as they put all sorts of things in it. I buy different kinds of organic bread flour (for example spelt, white, wholemeal, barleycorn) and mix a variety together, sometimes I add a tbsp seed mix as well. To clean the pan is a doddle, just fill soapy water in it and leave it to soak for ten minutes (sometimes I leave it overnight ph34r.gif ) this loosens the blade and as it is non stick the rest just needs a wipe.

Christine - I also am not keen on mixes and at least using the bread maker you know what ingriedients you are putting in wink.gif

Can I (no perhaps I shouldn't post this ph34r.gif ) just say I actually trained as a 'Bread, confectionary and cake decorator' and I still love the bread maker biggrin.gif

if the paddle is a bit stuck, could you spray a bit of wd40 on it?
