Hi all, Harvey has in the last month or so developed a taste for blackberry leaves?
As most of our walks take place in the woods, there are plenty along the path ways for him to have a nibble!! Just wondered if anyone else had witnessed this? He also has started to lick wee from leaves where another dog has been.. eughh!

Moxie (yes, she is the one who has been in big trouble eating slugs) has been picking the ripe blackberries off the bushes for the last two or three weeks. I haven't seen her eat any leaves. She is very good at finding the ripe blackberries!

I do feed her, honestly!

My 2 have been doing this on their walks, but then they seem to have a real thing for fruit and raw veg! huh.gif

Dex has been picking his own blackberries since he was a puppy, I often wonder what we look like with me grazing the top of the bush and him hoovering round the bottom smile.gif

He also licks at particularly succulent 'sniffs', especially if there has been a bitch in (or nearly in) season about.

Seren and Sophie both pick their own blackberries during their daily walks in the local copse. We've always thought that it's because they'd seen my children picking the ripe berries and thought "so that's how you get a free snack!" - but it's quite sweet when they both "help" my three-year-old with his pickings. They stand on either side of him, tails wagging like nobody's business, noses in the brambles, helping themselves to the (hopefully ripe) berries. And when my son picks the sour ones? Yep, the dogs get the remains!!!

Now, I don't want to get a reputation for being a scaremonger! but I just wanted to warn people that if there have been cows in the fields, or muck spraying, don't eat the blackberries until they have had a very thorough wash.
Dogs don't need to heed this warning!
There is a dangerous bacteria which some cows carry in their gut called E Coli 0157. You need very few of these bacteria to make you very ill,it can cause kidney failure and even death in the young, the old and those with poor immune systems.
Wash your blackberries folks!
