Most of you have seen my pics of bradgate park, but it is def my fave dog walk in our area.
It is in the little village of Newtown Linford and spreads for miles and miles across Leicestershire. You could literally walk there for hours!! It costs £2 parking, and once you enter the park there are various different routes. We tend to take the Bridal path to the left, as once you get near the top, there are fields and fields of huge bracken piles, just perfect for springers biggrin.gif In the midst of all these bracken mounds are marshy pits, which the dogs also love. A river runs through the park and on nice days you can see the whole of Leicestershire from the top, where Old John stands.
The park gets very popular, but is so big that you can walk for ages without seeing another soul biggrin.gif
There are no rules for dogs, except obviously to pick up after them, so they can run free and really enjoy themselves.

It is dog haven, I really really recommend it

43 mins! that's very precise laugh.gif

well, I go every weekend, come rain or shine so may see you there wink.gif

top tip - park in newtown linford entrace car park, as soon as you go thru main entrance gates take a hard left and keep going. It's uphill, but once you get over the brow of the hill it's fantastic and all yours biggrin.gif

sallyandyoyo'smum- 01-15-2008

It would be great to organise a meet, didn't realise there were a few spring-thingers nearby!!

I have never done an ally rally yet and would love to...............if it was a possibility............. xx

Just be aware that there are deer in the park and the ranger has said that they will shoot dogs who chase them unsure.gif . I am reluctant to take Harry as a result of this sad.gif .

vic- 01-16-2008
Oh. That's a bit scary. sad.gif

sallyandyoyo'smum- 01-16-2008
Many national parks have deer tho.....and we have never run into any problems with them, they herd together usually across the river which is closed off to the public anyway because of this......

If people are genuinely put off by this tho I am sure we can find another walk.

It's a shame tho cos we rarely see any deer and the dogs do love it biggrin.gif

I think as long as we're careful, we should be okay? Just as long as I've got pockets full of tennis balls!

sallyandyoyo'smum- 01-16-2008
and throwy-stick things biggrin.gif

Sally has been a handful, only just started letting her off lead a couple of weeks back as she never ever listens to me!! But I feel safe at bradgate park doing it, and it's so big it's easy to avoid the deer, promise wink.gif

PsychoJo mentioned meeting up in Feb as she doesn't live too far from me - maybe we could arrange soemthing for then? xxxxx
