smile.gif If you contact the Kennel Club they will give you a list of all the Gundog club/societies. Not all of them have training classes but most do.
Most of the clubs run little -*test*-('")s in the summer, which are always worth doing.
There is on in Hampshire.

smile.gif Sorry forgot to say, my friend had a Lab who was a tummy crawler, she also had been treted bad.
We started of using soft toys for her to retreive, then tennis balls and once she was ok with them, we then stuffed the dummy inside an old dirty sock.
Finaly she got ok with the dummies.
She is now a fab working retriver. But took a long time.

We will definately get there with Moll, the progress she has made so far is just brilliant.Mike, our trainer reckons she will be the better worker out of the two,so we just need to stick with it and in time it will come

Not really training but thought i would post on this thread anyway.

We've been up to Cyn's today and as we do when we go up there we took the girls to the beach, i can honestly say that Molly was off her Lead and under Control the whole time we were there, never did she run too far, and every time we blew that whistle she came back, a pip on the stop whistle and she was sat, i even manged to stop her chasing seagulls and Nev did some sit stays with her while the other two were running around (the ultimate distraction for Moll) I am so so proud of my girl today, and have some good news to report to Mike when we see him tomorrow biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Update, with bango and other things Moll hasn't had a lesson for a month, so amyway change of plan, On friday Mike came here and we had the lesson on our own turf so to speak, and it was rip roaring success, started with some heel work (every seesion starts with heelwork just to calm her down) and then we let her off, we were all expecting her to do one and blow me it never happened, she stayed really close, came back on the whistle stopped on the whistle and even did abit of quatering, in between we kept bringing her back in and putting her back on her lead and letting her go again biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif We even managed a bit of retrieving, something that Moll has never been keen on ohmy.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

So more of this, at the moment its a two man job, Nev and i tried it today, and although she didn't stay as close as friday, we didn't feel out of control and managed some good recalls and releases, and never once did we think we were going to loose her.

Its been a long hard slog to get this far, but enjoyable and the feeling when you get results is fantastic, so we will keep going and i will look forward to posting photos of her on her first shoot smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif

Great news Liz - have been following your posts with interest as I to have lessons with a trainer to get control on my waywood springer.

One question if you don`t mind, do you find that Molly behaves the same when at the training ground with Mike and different at home????

When Poppy and I are with my trainer its fab 100% but at home she is so different and not as good!!! Yesterday we went to training group quatering sat to bolting rabbit loads of distraction other dogs 100% steady.

Today did the same as yesterday and she kept taking off... her recall is much better and did come back, but its so frustrating that yesterday she didn`t bolt at all.

Answers on a postcard please laugh.gif laugh.gif

We find exactly that.I think because all molls has ever done at mikes is training she seems to switch on to it straight away, when we have her at home i think she associates home turf with having a good run about and she forgets she is there to train. That was the reason for mike coming to us on friday,to see where we were going wrong and to give some advice on how to improve things.

We never expected mike to be a quick fix for moll.Whoever had her before us has done a pretty good job of screwing her up when it comes to gun training. But the difference in her is there for all to see and we are sure that with mike's help we will get her working one day,not because she has to but because she want's to biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Thanks for that - so I know at least its not just me then wink.gif I think I will ask Alex if he will come over to my ground and cast his eagle eye over us laugh.gif

We have also made very good progress, at least she comes back now. We to are hoping to get out working and after yesterday with the mock simulated beaters line it has given me the bug to get out their.

I look to reading the next installment - keep up the homework it does pay off....
