Ok heres the scene:

Ruby (my daughter age almost 3 years) is sitting at the table eating. She never finished her supper and NEVER brings her plate to the sink. Lately I've been feeling very tired for no reason. So I've been getting at the dishes a little later. Well I when over and cleaned up her mess... well I thought i cleaned it all up blink.gif . I sat down after loading up the dishwasher and looked over and there was hendrix on his hind legs licking and eating off my table, dumping Ruby's booster seat to get and anything I forgot in there. I don't mind the help but why did this start out of the blue? nothing has changed and he eats well... I'm lost. Its happend three night in a row and I always say down when I catch him. I'm very sure I'm getting everything but he even licks the table blink.gif . Is there anything you can suggest to help me out?

Erin

Well the first time I used Lysol kitchen cleaner like I normally do but I was scared he might get sick seeing as how he licked at the spots i used it on.. the last two night I've just used dish shop and hot water. I'm totally lost for this!

Sorry a useless reply but 'tired for no reason' - except a 9 month old and a 3 year old and a springer, lol!!! I have a 3 year old and 2 springers and I'm permanently exhausted! Sorry I can't help really, both of my dogs are complete gannets and will search for every last crumb and know my little boy is likely to have left some somewhere so will hoover and mop themselves at any opportunity.

Oh don't worry, I'll just keep telling him off when he gets on the table and hopefully he'll get it... I don't mind him "hoovering" but its a fine line when he jumps up onto the table. BAH... oh well thanks for the story though.

Rufus has just started to do this too... and hoovering off the kitchen work tops - he gets told off, and then pulled away, but he figures the potential prize is worth the telling off...

In a away i think it is something that got missed from thier early puppy training, purely because they were too small to reach! - we'll keep persevering too, cos i don't like it either wink.gif

When Barney first arrived he thought all human food was fair game, wether you were still eating it or not!

He spent a while teathered on his lead to the patio doors while we were eating......

Sam is terrible at doing this. He will never actually take anything whilst I am there but as soon as my back is turned he will eat anything and everything. Not long back we were in my mother in law's pub eating our sunday lunch and I turned around to speak to my OH and Sam nicked my sausage and then ran over to a corner so he couldn't be disturbed!

If you find the answer please let me know tongue.gif

Well I found something that has worked. Its not the nicest thing but it works....

I use a spray bottle with water in it....

Every time I catch him doing it I give him a little spray.... its been three days now and hes stopped. Its not the best way but hes gotten the point.

i have a small spray bottle of 'puppy perfume' which i used when they were smelly little pups - Rufus now runs at the sight of the bottle, so everytime he thinks about stealing food, i show him the bottle and warn him the doggy old spice will be coming his way... biggrin.gif and he legs it out of the kitchen quick!
