I had a very sad phone call from a lady in Renfrewshire, near Glasgow today. Her young cocker has been seen by a behaviourist for biting the children, we are her last hope and that hope is to rehome him where there are no children. Her children are now too scared to work with the dog as advised by the behaviourist and the dog has to wear a muzzle at all times in their company.
We aren't able to take any more in at the moment and both the lady and I are concerned that this young cocker boy gets the right home.
He is from a puppy farm, he is chocolate/tan, aged 1 year, great with adults but not with children, neutered, chipped, up to date with vaccs. and house trained. Good with bitches but may need watching with other dogs. He needs a full assessment, but we can't give him that just now.

I believe he will do best eventually where he is one of a "pack".
The type of home this boy needs is
- A very active home
- an adult only home that is capable of "managing" him if there are visiting children
- owners at home so possibly active retired?
- someone who can train dogs or willing to
- someone used to working with dogs with behavioural issues
The lady will keep him until a suitable home can be found, she has done the homework now that she knows she should have done before getting him, and is now keen to do what's best for him.
If anyone wants to consider this dog as an addition or if you live in Scotland and would like to join Spaniel Trust as a fosterer to help retrain him, please get in touch. Thanks
