Oliver is putting weight on well, but i struggle with proportions as i still feed him 3 times a day (7 months). Today for example he had 2 chicken thighs for breakfast, belly pork for dinner (200gms) and chicken thigh for tea. Is this too much, not enough or too much chicken.
Tomorrow it will be offal (200gms) split between 3 meals as he eats it better this way. Raw egg and sardines and chicken drumstick.

Sorry sandra I haven't fed a puppy on BARF/RMB but the usual for adult dogs is 2-3% of perfect bodyweight. Maybe Sandy could advise you for puppy feeding?

I did some reseach for you and people who do it all the time might have it different but here is what I found.

QUOTE
How much to feed?
60% raw meaty bones

15% crushed vegetables & fruit

25% meat mince & offal (organ meat, heart, liver, kidneys, brains, stomach (Tripe), in-*test*-('")ines etc.)

Please understand that these are only guidelines and are not meant to replace the advice of your vet. In order to fully understand feeding a raw diet based on Dr. Billinghurst books, you will need to read, “Grow your pups with bones” and “The BARF diet”. These books will explain how to calculate the daily feeding amounts.

QUOTE
This Diet plan is for our Staffordshire Bull Terriers who are 3 months of age or older. Your plan may be different depending on your area and breed. If you are switching from commercial dogs foods then we suggest that you read this first.

The Diet:
60% raw meaty bones
15% crushed vegetables & fruit
25% meat mince & offal (organ meat, heart, liver, kidneys, brains, stomach (Tripe), in-*test*-('")ines etc.)

The first quote is for under 3 months... and they are both for the Staffordshire Bull Terriers... but their adult weight is about 25 to 38LBS (11-17kg) So I'd use it for a guild.... I also found a really good site... here is the URL:

http://www.njboxers.com/faqs.htm

Hope this helps!

Flippin' heck, I just wrote out a reply then deleted it accidentally mad.gif
Here goes again!
In my very humble opinion I think that sounds fine, I have to feed Obi alot of chicken too as the variety here is a bit limited, usually at least one of his meals a day is based on chicken.
For variety I also feed lamb breast (cheap biggrin.gif ) and rabbit (expensive here mad.gif ), fish, eggs, yoghurt (bio), lamb hearts and offal from a variety of animals as well as tripe and beef chunks from the freezer in the petshop.
Amounts wise, as long as Oliver is putting weight on well I wouldn't think you have much to worry about smile.gif
Hope that helps a bit!

Thanks for that, I too have bought him some rabbit from the butchers (skinned, etc) and considering there are millions of rabbits around it is expensive!
What do you give the yoghurt for?

Yoghurt helps the in-*test*-('")inal flora along - especially after strong medication it's recommended. And of course it's just yummy and not harmful, unless you feed it by the bucket - then it might cause some runny stools. ph34r.gif

Hi
He looks fit and healthy in your pic.
Here is a topic from a while ago that you might find interesting.

Not saying that you are a numptie laugh.gif
But this was a very good raw feeding thread and I hope it helps to put your mind at rest.
