W have an Aldi only a mile or so away and to be fair their special offers are always worth a look ............. you need to pick and choose in some respects, but they do have some cracking bargains at times.

I love Aldi's!! I buy 90% of my food there. You do have to watch what you get, but for the most part it's a good deal. Here in the states, we don't get as many good deals as you all do, but what I like is, we get European foods sometimes and that is a real treat for me as I grew up overseas.

We have the evil Walmart (NOT) and that is where I get lots of good stuff. They have wonderful dog toys, accessories, and treats.

I get their feed at a farm supply store.

Aldi is my closest supermarket - they do have some really good stuff - and some really odd stuff (which is always fun, a bit like visiting the shops on your holidays, not always sure exactly what you are buying!)

haven't bought any walking kit, but have bought loads of cycling kit - can particularly recommend their merino wool jumpers - cost me about a tenner, and a branded equivalent sets you back about £50 - perfect for dog walks too i should think

Aldi has been moving into Switzerland for a couple of years now, and in a few days a supermarket will open here almost within walking distance. I'll be dropping in from time to time, but probably mostly for non-food stuff. I prefer to buy locally grown products if possible, and I would suspect their cheap meat is all factory-raised. But on the whole I welcome their arrival - swiss food retail is almost exclusively in the hands of just two retailers, who until recently could do very much as they pleased regarding prices. dry.gif

If your new Aldi operates on a similar basis to here in the UK then I believe your 2 local "conspirators" will be in for a very rude awakening ohmy.gif

Our local Aldi, (5 minutes drive away) is next door to a 24 hour Asda, so shopping is fairly convenient ............. according to Mrs O_D tongue.gif ........... I try and avoid shopping ph34r.gif ............. anyway, back to Aldi, be a bit selective, their 7p cans of beans are imho ............ not even worth 3p ....... but a lot of their fare is very good .... I would suggest a perusal of both their Cheese and wine selections could be worthwhile biggrin.gif

Yes, Old Dave, that happened here in my community. We had one store to go to for decades and they did as they pleased. Then Walmart and Aldi's came in and they broke the monopoly. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

If I see something interesting or new at Aldi's, I buy one and try it. It's like going into a Chinese food market. Sometimes you don't know what you are buying, but it's lots of fun. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

We are just now getting the good cheeses in, but no wine sad.gif It's against the law in Kansas to sell spirits in the grocery store. sad.gif
