Cut a long story short, shoots are held in both " areas" 4 times in the season ie 8 shoots over the season, being invited to beat at as many as we like...
He has an oldy Lab who hes says is still a good picker up, but theres always room for a set of fresh paws
Discussed the training I,ve being doing with the boy on the whistle and recall and theres no major concerns he will lend us a training DVD and introduce to a friend of his who beats the same shoots " who he says owns a gang of springers

Got the training DVD, its based on training a springer for rough shooting ( using the dog to flush and retrieve which the producer of the DVD reckons springers are top class at) , I,ve had a quick scan through and there are some tips that could be useful for beating, such as training the dog to flush "quarters" working a line....
I,ll was quite pleased that I wasnt too far wrong with my whistle work, I,ll post again when I,ve had a good look at it
